BURU is back for a new season.
On September 5, we return to one of Skopje’s most recognisable buildings - the National Opera and Ballet - and give it a completely different night.
After a year of moving through unexpected spaces around the city, this opening feels like the right way to start again. Different room, different energy, same reason we started BURU in the first place: bringing people together around music and creating nights that actually stay with you.
For the opening, MOMERY joins BURU residents RABOdeTORO for the first night of the new season. No big concept to explain. Just a new season, a new space, and one night you’ll want to remember.

THE VENUE:
The National Opera and Ballet is one of Skopje’s most distinctive modernist buildings. Designed by the Slovenian collective Biro 71 as part of the city’s post-earthquake Cultural Centre, its sharp white forms and unusual interior made it one of the most radical architectural projects of its time.
Over the years, the building has gained recognition far beyond Skopje. The original project is represented in MoMA’s Architecture & Design collection and was included in Toward a Concrete Utopia: Architecture in Yugoslavia, 1948 - 1980. More recently, The World of Interiors dedicated a full feature to the building and its preserved modernist character.
On September 5, BURU takes over the venue for the first time - not to change what the building is, but to experience it in a completely different way.
